Wells Fargo Center

The Wells Fargo Center is a modern skyscraper with 37 floors and a height of 535 feet (163 meters) that rises in downtown Jacksonville. The building houses 15 elevators, an auditorium for 360 people, several restaurants, retail spaces, and corporate offices throughout its commercial areas.

The Independent Life and Accident Insurance Company commissioned this building in 1974 and originally named it the Independent Life Building. The later name change to Wells Fargo Center marked a shift in the building's use and management.

The River Club on the upper floors reflects how corporate Jacksonville has changed over time, as it once restricted membership by gender. These spaces show how social attitudes shifted within the business community.

Visitors should know that the building is easily accessible due to its central location and offers extensive amenities throughout. Restaurants and shops inside make it possible to spend several hours without leaving the building.

A four-story atrium filled with tropical plants forms the entrance and creates a natural transition between outside and inside. This planted lobby area is a surprising design feature that brings greenery to the heart of the building.
