Haydon Burns Library, Public library in downtown Jacksonville, Florida.
The four-story building spans 126,000 square feet and features colorful exterior tiles with geometric patterns along the facade and large glass walls.
Architect Taylor Hardwick designed this library in 1965 at a cost of 3.7 million dollars, replacing the earlier Carnegie Library from 1905.
The interior centerpiece includes a mosaic mural titled 'Momentum and Direction' by artist Ann Williams, surrounding the central elevator and stair tower.
The facility contained shelf space for 550,000 volumes and operated as Jacksonville's main library branch from 1965 until its closure in 2005.
The second floor contained a specialized theater space that regularly presented performances for the local community throughout its operational years.
