SunTrust Tower

SunTrust Tower is a postmodern skyscraper with 24 floors and a height of about 357 feet (109 meters) located downtown. The building has a rectangular shape and sits at the intersection of Independent Drive and Laura Street.

The building was constructed in 1989 by KBJ Architects as the American Heritage Life Building, originally serving as an insurance company headquarters. It later changed ownership multiple times, becoming known as SunTrust Tower and then VyStar Tower through corporate acquisitions and transitions.

The building reflects Jacksonville's modern financial landscape through its role as a corporate headquarters. Its location in the downtown core makes it a focal point for the city's business activity and economic life.

The building features multiple public entrances at the lower levels and connects to neighboring structures through the 100 West Bay complex. Visitors can easily access office spaces and business facilities within the building.

The building was fitted with electric blue LED edge lighting in 2020 that makes it stand out prominently in the nighttime skyline. This distinctive light creates a memorable visual anchor in Jacksonville's downtown after dark.
