Main Street Bridge

Main Street Bridge is a steel vertical-lift bridge that crosses the St. Johns River with a movable center span. The structure is painted in bright blue and carries traffic across one of the city's major waterways.

The structure opened in 1941 after years of construction and was officially named in 1957. This bridge marked an important shift in Jacksonville's ability to connect its divided waterfront neighborhoods.
