Founded in 1941 as the Jacksonville Children's Museum, the institution moved to its current location in 1969 and received accreditation from the American Alliance of Museums in 1983.
The museum exhibits showcase the history of Northeast Florida from the Timucuan period through the 1960s, displaying artifacts and information about regional development.
The Museum operates Monday, Wednesday through Friday from 10 AM to 5 PM, Saturday from 10 AM to 6 PM, and Sunday from 12 PM to 5 PM.
The Bryan-Gooding Planetarium presents daily astronomy shows, solar system explorations, and educational programs about space science under its specialized dome.
