Glen Park, Residential neighborhood in San Francisco, US.

Glen Park is a residential neighborhood on the southeastern edge of San Francisco's central hills, featuring a mix of homes with independent shops and restaurants scattered throughout. The area has a neighborhood feel with tree-lined streets and local businesses that serve the community.

The neighborhood was established in 1897 when developer Archibald S. Baldwin built homes and opened a zoological garden that drew thousands of weekend visitors. After the zoo closed, the residential development continued to expand and became the community it is today.

The neighborhood is named after the Glen family who settled here in the 1800s and left their mark on the community. Residents gather regularly for events and volunteer days to care for their shared public spaces and streets.

The neighborhood is well connected by the Glen Park BART station and several Muni bus lines that reach different parts of the city. The hilly terrain can make walking challenging in some areas, so comfortable footwear is helpful for getting around.

Upper Islais Creek flows above ground through Glen Canyon, making it one of the few visible streams in San Francisco that runs from Twin Peaks' slopes. This flowing water creates a green space that many visitors overlook while exploring the neighborhood.
