Marin Museum of Contemporary Art

The Marin Museum of Contemporary Art is a museum in Novato featuring several galleries, working artist studios, and educational spaces arranged across roughly 1,700 square feet. The institution opened in 2007 within a former military base that was repurposed from its original defense function into a center for art. This conversion transformed how the site was used and what it represented to the community.

The museum houses more than 50 working artist studios, making it a place where you can watch creators developing their work in real time. Each year it organizes an Altered Book Exhibition where around 150 transformed books become art pieces sold at auction.
