Santa's Village, Christmas theme park in Scotts Valley, United States
Santa's Village was a Christmas-themed amusement park in Scotts Valley spread across about 25 acres with wooden chalets topped with snow-covered roofs, a miniature train that circled the grounds, and many holiday-inspired rides and attractions. The layout gave visitors multiple areas to explore throughout the park.
The park opened on May 30, 1957, as the second location of a Christmas-themed park concept after another location had succeeded at Lake Arrowhead. This expansion brought the idea to a new part of California.
Staff members dressed as elves ran the rides and activities throughout the park. These costumed characters created the memorable image that visitors carried away from the experience.
The park had its own dedicated exit from Highway 17, which is still called Santa's Village Road today. This makes the location easy to identify even though the park is no longer open.
A candy cane striped pole stood at the North Pole area as a central landmark within the park grounds. This distinctive feature was surrounded by other memorable attractions like a giant Jack-in-the-Box.
