RailBlazer, Steel roller coaster at California's Great America, Santa Clara, United States.
RailBlazer is a steel roller coaster with a single-rail system at California's Great America in Santa Clara, California. The construction reaches a height of 106 feet (32 meters) and offers three inversions at a top speed of 52 miles per hour (84 kilometers per hour).
Rocky Mountain Construction built this installation as one of two prototypes for single-rail coasters and opened it in June 2018. The company used the development of this model to test and demonstrate the possibilities of the new ride system.
Riders pass through sections referencing California State Route 1 and the San Francisco Bay Area while recognizing regional theme elements in the queue and along the course. This design captures the spirit of Northern California and connects engineering with landscape symbolism.
The minimum height for riding is 48 inches (122 centimeters), while capacity allows for about 600 people per hour. Wait times vary depending on the time of day and visitor flow, with mornings and evenings often showing shorter lines.
The trains have only eight seats in single file, allowing each rider a direct view of the track without obstruction from other passengers. This arrangement creates a sense of freedom and control throughout the entire ride.
