South Bay Shores, Water park in Santa Clara, United States.
South Bay Shores is a water park located inside California's Great America in Santa Clara, offering water slides, pools, a lazy river, and play zones spread across the grounds. The layout divides the space into sections, each aimed at a different type of water activity or age group.
The park opened in 2004 under the name Crocodile Dundee's Boomerang Bay, becoming the first water park attached to a Northern California amusement complex. In 2021 it received a major expansion and was renamed South Bay Shores.
South Bay Shores draws families who want a full day near water without traveling far. Groups gather around the pools and lazy river in a relaxed setting where people move at their own pace between the different zones.
Since the water park sits inside California's Great America, it helps to plan your visit with both parts of the complex in mind. On hot summer days the most popular slides and pools fill up early, so arriving in the morning gives you more room to move around.
Breakers Bay, the wave pool section of the park, generates waves in changing patterns that mimic ocean swells, even though Santa Clara sits well inland from the coast. The system alternates between gentle rolling waves and stronger surges, so the pool feels noticeably different depending on which mode is running.
