Willow Glen, Residential district in San Jose, United States
Willow Glen is a residential neighborhood in San Jose bounded by the Guadalupe River on one side and Los Gatos Creek on the other, with tree-lined streets and homes built in various older architectural styles. The main commercial area runs along Lincoln Avenue, where you'll find local shops, cafes, and restaurants that serve the community.
The area originated as a Mexican land grant in the 1800s and became an independent city in 1927. It was incorporated into San Jose through annexation in 1936.
The district maintains its small-town character through regular community events, including the annual Founders' Day parade along Lincoln Avenue in September.
The neighborhood spans two zip codes and has Interstate 280 marking its northern edge, making it easy to identify on a map. Multiple parks throughout the area provide spaces for walking, picnicking, or outdoor activities.
Since 1950, residents have placed illuminated small trees in their front yards during winter, a tradition started by the Cimino family. This festive display has become a recognizable feature of the area.
