Shotgun Players operates a performance space at the Ashby Stage, presenting six to seven productions each season with innovative interpretations of classic plays.
Founded in 1992 by Patrick Dooley and ten actors, the theater company performed in 44 different locations before establishing their permanent home in 2004.
The theater company develops original works and commissions new plays, having produced over 140 theatrical performances since its establishment in Berkeley.
Located near Ashby BART station at 1901 Ashby Avenue, the theater offers accessible ticket prices and maintains regular performance schedules throughout the year.
In 2007, the Ashby Stage became the first theater venue in the United States to operate entirely on solar power, demonstrating environmental responsibility.
