Woodland

Woodland is a city in California's Central Valley, serving as the administrative center of Yolo County. The street grid features wide avenues shaded by mature trees, and a compact downtown where brick buildings from the late 1800s mix with newer storefronts.

A post office established in 1861 by Frank S. Freeman marked the start of permanent settlement. Rail connections arriving in 1869 accelerated growth and turned the settlement into a trading hub for surrounding farms.

The Woodland Opera House presents year-round theatrical productions and musical performances in a restored 1885 California Historical Landmark building.

The city sits roughly 15 miles northwest of Sacramento and offers good road connections for visitors traveling through central California. Parking is available around the center, and most points of interest lie within walking distance of one another.

The HIVE lets visitors sample over 30 honey varieties from different regions of the world in an outdoor garden. Each variety tastes different depending on which flowers the bees visited.
