The residence was built in 1885 by architects Gilbert & Sons for ranchers Amos and Harvey Gable. Its construction reflects a period of significant economic growth and prosperity in the region.

The mansion sits four blocks from downtown Woodland and is easily accessible on foot. Its location on a main street makes it simple to visit and view from the exterior.

A curved stairway in the central hall becomes visible immediately upon entering, drawing the eye upward. The interior walls display restored murals from the 1800s that preserve the artistic craftsmanship of that period.
