United States Bicycling Hall of Fame, Sports hall of fame in Davis, California
The United States Bicycling Hall of Fame is a sports museum in Davis housing historic bicycles spanning from early Draisine models to modern racing equipment across three floors. The collection displays more than 150 artifacts documenting over 150 years of bicycle history.
The museum was founded in 1987 in Somerville, New Jersey and relocated to Davis, California in 2009 to establish stronger ties with a major cycling community. The move enabled growth and deeper connections to local cycling culture.
The collection features artifacts from Major Taylor, an early African American cycling champion, and medals and sashes from Frank Louis Kramer, telling the story of influential figures in the sport.
The collection spreads across three floors, so plan time to explore all levels thoroughly. The facility also offers rental spaces for meetings and events if you are visiting with a group.
The basement houses a chronological collection of bicycles showing the technical evolution of bike components from the 1900s to today. This underground exhibition provides a detailed overview of how construction and design changed over the decades.
