John Bidwell, a California pioneer and congressman, constructed this residence between 1865 and 1868 during his courtship of Annie Ellicott Kennedy.
The mansion became a central gathering place for upper Sacramento Valley society, hosting numerous educational and community events throughout the late 1800s.
Visitors can explore the mansion through guided hour-long tours, with the first floor accessible by ramp and video presentations available for upper floors.
