Dave and Lynn Frohnmayer Pedestrian and Bicycle Bridge

Dave and Lynn Frohnmayer Pedestrian and Bicycle Bridge, Pedestrian and bicycle bridge in Eugene, United States.

The Dave and Lynn Frohnmayer Bridge crosses the Willamette River and connects the University of Oregon campus directly to Autzen Stadium and Alton Baker Park on the opposite bank. The structure was engineered with multiple support piers to span the river while providing separate pathways for pedestrians and cyclists throughout its length.

The bridge originated in the 1970s when a local utility company proposed it primarily to carry pipes across the river for their operations. The design was later adapted to serve the public as a pedestrian and cycling route, transforming it from a purely industrial infrastructure into shared community space.

The bridge bears the name of David Frohnmayer, who served as Oregon Attorney General and President of the University of Oregon, marking his influence on state education.

The bridge features clearly marked, level pathways suitable for both walking and cycling, with good visibility along the river and surrounding areas. Access is straightforward from both sides, making it easy to navigate regardless of your preferred mode of transport.

The structure originated as a utility bridge for carrying pipes but evolved into a combined purpose design when local authorities funded the addition of pedestrian facilities.
