Petersen Rock Garden, Rock garden near Redmond, United States
The garden displays miniature buildings, castles, bridges, and water features constructed from rocks collected within an 85-mile radius of the property.
Danish immigrant Rasmus Petersen established this garden in 1935, dedicating his time to building intricate stone structures until his death in 1952.
The garden includes a concrete American flag and a 7-foot Statue of Liberty replica, representing Petersen's connection to both Denmark and America.
Located between Bend and Redmond off U.S. 97, the garden operates seasonally and features a museum with a gift shop selling regional rocks.
The museum contains a fluorescent room with miniature castles made from materials like manganese, tungsten, uranium, and zinc that illuminate in darkness.
