Dofflemyer Point Light, Automated lighthouse at Boston Harbor in Thurston County, United States.
Dofflemyer Point Light is a white concrete structure with a pyramidal shape located at the northeastern entrance of Budd Inlet. Standing approximately 30 feet tall, it serves as a navigation marker at the southern edge of Puget Sound.
A simple pole lantern marked this location as a light source beginning in 1887. The current concrete tower was built in 1934 to replace the original installation.
The lighthouse carries the name of Isaac Dofflemyer, who claimed the surrounding land in the mid-1800s. It stands as a marker of early settlement and maritime heritage in this part of Puget Sound.
This lighthouse sits on private property and is closed to visitors. You can view it from the water, but landing or approaching on foot is not permitted.
The light operates through photoelectric cells without needing a keeper on site. Its automated system makes it one of few fully self-operating navigation aids of this kind in the region.
