Western Antique Aeroplane & Automobile Museum, Transportation history museum in Hood River County, United States
The Western Antique Aeroplane & Automobile Museum holds over 400 vehicles from different manufacturing eras, including operational vintage aircraft and automobiles. The collection spreads across four hangars and features machines ranging from the early 1900s to the mid-20th century.
The museum opened in 2007 when collector Terry Brandt donated 42 aircraft and 20 automobiles as its founding collection. Subsequent expansions through various construction phases transformed it into a major local institution.
Monthly Second Saturday events bring working demonstrations where volunteers show how these historical machines operate. You can watch these vehicles in action and understand what daily transportation really looked like in earlier times.
The facility opens daily and sits along Air Museum Road with parking available right at the site. Check ahead for special event dates, as these offer the best chances to see vehicles actually running.
The collection holds the world's largest assembly of three-cylinder radial-powered aircraft in one location. It also contains an exceptional number of early 20th century OX-5-powered planes that are rarely seen elsewhere.
