Tsawwassen Mills, Shopping mall in Delta, British Columbia, Canada
Tsawwassen Mills is a large shopping center in Delta with over 200 stores and restaurants housed in a modern, open layout on a single level. The building features high ceilings and wide hallways that make it easy to navigate between the various shops and zones selling clothing, shoes, electronics, beauty items, and home goods.
The center opened its doors in October 2016 and was built by Ivanhoé Cambridge to serve the growing needs of the local area, replacing smaller shopping centers. Its opening day attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors and it quickly became an important gathering place for the Delta community.
The shopping center honors the Tsawwassen First Nation through Indigenous art and architectural elements inspired by traditional longhouses. Visitors can see symbols and decorations throughout the mall that reference the culture of the local First Nations, creating a connection to the land and its people.
The mall is near Highway 17 and easily accessible with a large parking lot of over 6,000 spaces, some reserved for disabled visitors and electric vehicles. Bus services connect the shopping center to nearby towns and the ferry terminal, making it simple to visit whether you drive or take public transport.
The mall offers several activities beyond shopping, including a virtual reality entertainment center called VRFunz and Uncle Buck's Fishbowl & Grill, which combines bowling and games with dining. The Bass Pro Shop features a section called Outdoor World with large fish tanks and nature-themed displays, extending the visit far beyond typical retail experiences.
