Bodega Ridge Provincial Park, Provincial park on Galiano Island, Canada.
Bodega Ridge is a provincial park on Galiano Island with a ridge that rises from dense forest and sandstone rock formations. The formation stretches for several kilometers with viewing areas positioned along the main hiking trail.
The ridge was named after Captain Juan Francisco de la Bodega y Quadra, who led an expedition to these waters in 1792 alongside Captain Vancouver. This voyage was part of early European exploration along the Pacific coast.
The land holds deep roots for the Coastal Salish people, whose presence is felt in how the forest and waters are protected and respected here. Walking through these trails, you sense the ongoing relationship between the Indigenous communities and this territory.
The main entry point is at Cottage Way, and the hike to the top takes roughly thirty minutes. The trail has clear markers and several places where you can stop to rest and look at the views.
Sandstone ledges along the waterline support specialized wildflower populations that become visible from boats and kayaks passing nearby. These small habitats showcase the plant life that thrives in rocky coastal areas.
