Girl in a Wetsuit, Bronze sculpture at Stanley Park in Vancouver, Canada
The life-size bronze figure represents a woman wearing a wetsuit with flippers on her feet and a diving mask positioned on her forehead.
The Vancouver Harbour Improvement Society funded this sculpture by Elek Imredy, which was installed on a granite boulder in Stanley Park on June 9, 1972.
The sculpture represents the connection between Vancouver residents and maritime activities, particularly the growth of recreational scuba diving in the region.
Visitors can find the sculpture mounted on a rock between the SS Empress of Japan figurehead and Lumbermens' Arch along Stanley Park's northern shore.
The bronze statue required transportation to Rome for its final casting at Giovanni and Angelo Nicci's foundry before returning to Vancouver for installation.
