Hozomeen Campground, Remote campground in North Cascades National Park, United States.
Hozomeen Campground is a primitive camping area with 75 sites situated directly on the shores of Ross Lake in the northern section of North Cascades National Park. The locations are nestled within thick coniferous forest, with mountain ridges framing the landscape.
The campground was established following the creation of North Cascades National Park in 1968 and served to open access to the northern reaches of Ross Lake. Its development reflected early efforts to make this remote region accessible to park visitors.
The campground reflects regional traditions of backcountry camping, where visitors experience simple wilderness living and the location near the border creates a natural connection to Canadian outdoor culture.
Access comes via the Silver-Skagit Road through rough terrain that takes several hours to travel, and the unpaved surface can be challenging in wet conditions. Bring all supplies and food from outside, as no stores or services operate nearby and the remote location demands self-sufficiency.
The campground sits directly on the United States-Canada border and offers free camping to visitors. Campers can experience two nations from their tent site, a rare privilege at a monitored international boundary.
