Table Mountain Observatory, NASA astronomical observatory in Big Pines, United States.

The Table Mountain Observatory features a 1-meter Pomona College telescope and a 0.6-meter reflector telescope at 2,285 meters elevation in California.

The Smithsonian Institution established the observatory in 1924, and NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory took control of operations in 1962.

The facility contributes to space research through partnerships with Pomona College, offering educational programs for physics and astronomy students.

Located 40 miles from Los Angeles, the observatory conducts observations of near-Earth objects, including comets and asteroids that could impact Earth.

Scientists at Table Mountain Observatory have discovered more than 260 minor planets, leading to the naming of asteroid 84882 after the facility.
