Moqui Cave

Moqui Cave is a natural cave north of Kanab that extends into the rock formation and houses several displays. Visitors find a collection of artifacts from past inhabitants, minerals from the surrounding area, and fossilized dinosaur tracks discovered in the region.

The cave was acquired in 1951 by Garth Chamberlain, who developed it as a tourist site. It originally had a performance hall and tavern where visitors gathered.

The museum displays objects made and used by the Ancestral Puebloans and Navajo people who once lived in this region, including arrowheads, vessels, and tools. These items show how people worked and lived in everyday life long ago.

The site is located north of Kanab and is easy to reach by car. The cave maintains a constant cool temperature year-round, so bringing a light jacket is a good idea.

A special collection of minerals in the cave glows with bright colors under ultraviolet light. A dark room is set up specifically for viewing these minerals, letting visitors see this rare natural effect.
