Jobs Peak, Mountain summit in Alpine County, US
Jobs Peak is a mountain summit in the Carson Range of the Sierra Nevada, rising to 10,638 feet (3,241 m). From the top, hikers see panoramic views across Lake Tahoe and the Carson Valley below.
The peak was named after Moses Job, a merchant who opened a store near Sheridan, Nevada in the 1850s. His name became tied to this distinctive summit and has remained so for over 170 years.
The peak forms part of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, where numerous hiking trails connect different sections of the Carson Range.
The best time to climb is from June through October when trails are accessible and snow-free. Bring at least two liters of water per person since reliable water sources along the route are very limited.
The summit supports Tahoe Draba, a rare plant species found nowhere else on Earth. This specialized plant has adapted to thrive in the extreme conditions of this high-altitude environment.
