Old Washoe Club

The Old Washoe Club is a three-story brick building on C Street built with the architecture typical of the 1870s mining era. Inside are period furnishings, a bar, billiard rooms, and displays of artifacts that reflect how people lived and worked during that time.

Construction began in 1875 during the height of silver mining when Virginia City was one of the wealthiest towns in America. The building reflects that boom period and the prosperity that mining brought to the region.

The club takes its name from the Washoe people who inhabited this region long before mining arrived. It served as a gathering place where the town's most powerful residents conducted business and formed social bonds.

The building sits directly in the historic downtown area and is easy to reach on foot. Guided tours happen daily and show visitors through all the main rooms, so plan for a few hours to see everything.
