Ruby Crest National Recreation Trail

The Ruby Crest Trail extends 38 miles through the Ruby Mountains, starting at Harrison Pass at 7,300 feet and reaching elevations of 10,893 feet at Wines Peak.

Native American tribes utilized the Ruby Mountains region for hunting before the area transformed into a mining district during the nineteenth century expansion.

The trail connects multiple alpine environments, from Liberty Lake to Lamoille Canyon, representing the natural heritage of Nevada's high-altitude wilderness areas.

Hikers can access designated camping areas along the route, with water sources available near McCutcheon Creek and essential facilities at the Lamoille Canyon trailhead.

The path crosses through three distinct climate zones, featuring alpine lakes, mountain peaks, and meadows that support specialized plant species adapted to high elevations.
