Draper, City of mountains in Salt Lake Valley and Utah County, United States
Draper is a city in Salt Lake County and Utah County that sprawls across 30 square miles between Salt Lake City and Utah Lake. The location sits at about 4,500 feet (1,400 m) elevation and is surrounded by rolling terrain.
The settlement began in 1849 when Ebenezer Brown brought cattle to graze along South Willow Creek and established the first permanent dwelling. This early livestock farming became the foundation for agriculture that shaped the region for decades to come.
The Tree Lighting Ceremony at Draper Park brings the community together each winter with lights and activities for families to enjoy. This celebration shapes how locals experience their public spaces and shows what matters to people who live here.
Two UTA TRAX light rail stations and a FrontRunner commuter rail station provide connections to Salt Lake City and surrounding areas. Public transit makes it easy to explore neighboring communities without driving your own car.
During the 1940s, the area became known for egg production and supplied markets across the country and military troops with eggs. This tradition earned it a reputation as Utah's egg basket and shaped its economic identity for years.
