Dorsett Wanchai Hong Kong Hotel, Hotel in Wan Chai, Hong Kong
The Dorsett Wanchai Hong Kong Hotel is a modern building with 25 floors and over 450 rooms located on Queen's Road East, directly across from the Happy Valley Racecourse. The rooms are comfortable and decorated with contemporary style, featuring large windows that overlook either the racecourse, city skyline, or the busy streets below.
The building was originally used by the Xinhua News Agency Hong Kong Branch and became part of the government after 1997 until a company purchased and converted it into a hotel in 2001. It was formerly known as the Cosmopolitan Hotel before being renamed, and underwent a major renovation in 2016 to refresh its appearance.
Wan Chai is a district where traditional markets stand alongside modern shops and locals from different backgrounds share the same streets. The neighborhood maintains a strong local character while welcoming international visitors who explore its food stalls, small eateries, and everyday rhythms of Hong Kong life.
Causeway Bay MTR station is about eight minutes on foot away and offers easy connections throughout the city, while free shuttle buses link the hotel to major shopping centers and the Convention Centre. Check-in is flexible with up to 26 hours of room time available, which helps guests arriving early or with late flights.
Guests can watch horse races at Happy Valley directly from their room or lobby windows and experience the excitement of racing events especially on weekends from a close vantage point. The hotel offers a rare opportunity to follow this popular local sport from above while relaxing away from the busy city streets.
