Hong Kong House of Stories

The Hong Kong House of Stories is housed in a section of the Blue House, a four-story building with a deep blue exterior located on Stone Nullah Lane in Wan Chai. The museum displays everyday objects and artifacts that document the lives and history of this neighborhood community.

The building has served many purposes since the 1920s, functioning as a hospital, temple, martial arts studio, and residential complex. It was eventually transformed into a cultural space to preserve and share the neighborhood's heritage.

The space tells stories about how people lived and worked in this neighborhood over the past century, with displays showing daily routines and community traditions. Walking through the rooms, visitors experience how residents shaped this corner of Hong Kong through their everyday lives.

The building is one of the last remaining traditional tong laus, featuring characteristic wooden balconies and construction methods typical of early 20th-century architecture. This style of building has become rare in Hong Kong, making the structure itself a window into how urban neighborhoods were built decades ago.
