Southorn Stadium, Indoor sports venue in Wan Chai, Hong Kong
Southorn Stadium is a multi-purpose indoor hall in Wan Chai, Hong Kong, with a wooden floor and seating for around 3,000 spectators. The hall can host basketball games as well as other sporting and entertainment events.
The stadium takes its name from Sir William Southorn, who served as Colonial Secretary of Hong Kong from 1925 to 1936 and promoted the development of sports facilities across the territory. His efforts helped establish sport as a recognized part of public life in the colony.
The stadium is a regular home for local basketball leagues, drawing players and spectators from across the district throughout the year. Beyond sport, it also hosts community gatherings that bring Wan Chai residents together.
The hall sits right next to Wan Chai MTR Station at Exit A3, and several bus, minibus, and tram lines also stop nearby. Its central position makes it easy to combine a visit with other stops in the district.
The wooden floor was designed specifically for athletic competition and has been kept in good condition since the hall opened. This sets it apart from many other venues in the city that rely on synthetic surfaces.
