Central Plaza, Office skyscraper in Wan Chai District, Hong Kong
Central Plaza is a modern office skyscraper rising 78 stories and 374 meters, designed with a triangular floor plan that opens toward harbor views. The glass exterior and distinctive shape create numerous vantage points across the office spaces throughout the building.
Construction began in 1989 on land reclaimed from Victoria Harbour during the 1970s, and the building opened in 1992. At its completion, it stood as Asia's tallest structure at that time.
Sky City Church occupies the upper floors and serves as a space for worship within the commercial building. Visitors can witness how religious practice finds a place high above the busy district, offering a quiet refuge amid the surrounding activity.
The building contains 39 elevators and connects directly to public transportation via a ground-level pedestrian passage leading to MTR stations. This direct connection makes navigation straightforward and improves accessibility from street level.
A four-bar neon clock system at the top changes colors every 15 minutes to indicate the time to the surrounding city. This glowing time signal stands out especially to evening walkers and commuters passing below.
