Shui On Centre, Office skyscraper in Wan Chai North, Hong Kong
Shui On Centre is an office tower on Harbour Road in Wan Chai North, Hong Kong, rising 35 floors with a glass facade. It sits in the waterfront business district, close to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The building was completed in 1987, designed by Simon Kwan & Associates. It was built during a period when the Wan Chai North waterfront was being actively reclaimed from the sea to make room for commercial development.
Wan Chai North, where this tower stands, shifted from a working harbour district into a corporate address during the 1980s and 1990s. Walking along Harbour Road today, you see that shift clearly in the contrast between the glass towers and the older low-rise fabric just a few blocks inland.
The tower is on Harbour Road and can be reached on foot from Wan Chai MTR station within a few minutes. The surrounding streets are straightforward to navigate, with signage in both English and Chinese throughout the area.
The tower is home to the headquarters of Hong Kong Post, making it one of the few Grade A office buildings in the city where a public postal service runs its central operations. Most people passing by see only a standard glass office block, with no obvious sign of the postal logistics happening inside.
