Asian House, Demolished commercial building site in Wan Chai, Hong Kong

Asian House (熙信大廈) was a commercial building at 1 Hennessy Road in Tai Fat Kok, Wan Chai, beside the Hong Kong Police Headquarters and bounded by Arsenal Street and Lockhart Road. Completed in 1969 at about five storeys, it was enlarged in 1970 to 22 storeys with roughly 300,000 sq ft of floor area. It was demolished in 2013 and rebuilt as One Hennessy in 2019.

The site at 1 Hennessy Road first held the two-storey headquarters of Rediffusion, on land owned by the Aw Boon Haw family. A rebuild finished in 1969; the following year it was sold to Cheng Yu-tung, founder of New World Development, who added floors to reach 22 storeys. It passed to CITIC and later to Chinachem in 1989, which demolished it in 2013 and replaced it with One Hennessy in 2019.

The name Asian House was kept in English while the Chinese name, Hei Sun Building, was used locally. Its tenants over the years ranged from a McDonald's and a Shell petrol station to the Hong Kong headquarters of Pizza Hut and a branch of the Hennessy Road post office, which moved out in late 2012 and returned to the rebuilt site in 2019.

The building no longer stands: it was demolished in 2013 and replaced by One Hennessy, completed in May 2019. The site sits at 1 Hennessy Road in Tai Fat Kok, Wan Chai, bounded by Arsenal Street and Lockhart Road beside the Hong Kong Police Headquarters. Look for the large illuminated sign of SPD Bank Tower, which leases eight floors.

During demolition on 3 January 2014, a 2.4-metre concrete column weighing nearly two tonnes fell onto scaffolding at the seventh floor; debris hit three moving vehicles on Hennessy Road, which was closed while crews cleared the concrete. No one was injured.
