China Online Centre, Commercial skyscraper in Central, Hong Kong
China Online Centre is a 52-floor commercial skyscraper in the Central district of Hong Kong, standing 215 m tall. The facade is made of glass and steel, giving the tower a reflective exterior that changes in appearance depending on the light.
The tower opened in 2000, at a time when Hong Kong was strengthening its position as a major business center in Asia. Its construction was part of a broader wave of high-rise development that reshaped the Central district during that period.
The building takes its name from a tech company that was active when the tower was completed, capturing a moment when Hong Kong was investing heavily in digital commerce. Today it functions as a standard office tower in the heart of the financial district, used mostly by businesses and their employees.
The tower is located near several metro stations in Central and is easy to reach on foot from the main streets. The interior is mostly made up of private offices, so visitors can generally only access the lobby and ground-floor areas.
The tower was designed by architect Rocco Yim, who used angular forms so that the building looks different depending on where you stand. This geometric effect is most noticeable when you walk around the block and watch the facade shift as your viewpoint changes.
