No. 64 Kennedy Road, Grade III historic villa in Wan Chai District, Hong Kong

No. 64 Kennedy Road is a three-story villa in Wan Chai District with classical elements including an octagonal turret topped by a curved roof and Doric columns. The exterior displays Art Deco ironwork and other decorative architectural features throughout.

The property was acquired in 1905 by Ho Sau-hong and transferred in 1924 to Wong Yik-mui, wife of bus company founder Ngan Shing-kwan. These ownership changes marked how successful merchants in Hong Kong shifted wealth and real estate during this period.

The house is named after Ngan Shing-kwan, founder of China Motor Bus, whose family owned it; it was built in the 1930s and listed as a Grade III historic building in 2010. The site covers 27,986 square feet, and the owners have obtained Town Planning Board approval to redevelop it into a commercial and residential tower up to 120 metres tall, though no demolition application has been filed.

The building remains closed to the public, but you can see the garage and turret from Kennedy Road. The raised Bowen Road path provides another vantage point to view the property and its spacious garden.

The 27,986 sq ft site has planning permission, granted by the Town Planning Board, for a 120 m commercial-residential tower at five times plot ratio, about 139,932 sq ft of floor area. The owner has not applied to demolish the house.
