SITE Santa Fe, Contemporary art museum in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
SITE Santa Fe operates as a nonprofit museum occupying approximately 25,000 square feet (about 2,300 square meters) on Paseo de Peralta, presenting rotating contemporary art exhibitions across various media including installation, video, sculpture, and new media throughout the year.
Founded in February 1995, SITE Santa Fe initially organized the only international biennial of contemporary art in the United States, later expanding its programming to include multiple exhibitions each season that support both emerging and established artists from around the world.
The museum fosters artistic innovation by challenging traditional display methods and encouraging visitor interaction, often presenting works that explore current social issues, interdisciplinary projects, and the intersection of contemporary art with the cultural heritage of the Southwest region.
The museum is open Mondays and Thursdays from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Fridays from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with free admission and a Sky Terrace offering views of the surrounding desert landscape.
The building, redesigned by SHoP Architects, includes a Sky Terrace that provides open views of Santa Fe's desert skies, creating a direct connection between indoor contemporary art exhibits and the outdoor natural environment for visitors to experience.
