Georgia O'Keeffe's Home and Studio is a single-story adobe residence with thick walls, expansive windows, and skylights positioned to capture changing desert light throughout the day. The structure combines regional building traditions with modern design, housing the artist's living quarters and working spaces.

The structure was built in 1744 and purchased from the Roman Catholic Church in 1945, after which O'Keeffe undertook major renovations. She made it her home and workplace for more than thirty years, deepening her connection to the region.

The home reflects how local adobe building methods blended with the artist's personal vision, creating spaces that directly inspired her abstract paintings of New Mexico. The simple furnishings and spare decoration show how she lived closely with her natural surroundings.

Access to the property is only through guided tours available from spring through fall, which require booking in advance through the museum. Wear comfortable shoes and prepare for desert heat and bright sunlight.

The property includes a cultivated garden that provided fresh produce for the household and later inspired motifs in the artist's paintings. This private space reveals how deeply connected she was to the land.
