Reredos of Our Lady of Light, Stone altar screen in Cristo Rey Church, Santa Fe, United States

The stone reredos spans twenty-five feet in height and eighteen feet in width, featuring carved religious figures across multiple tiers with architectural details.

Francisco Antonio Marin del Valle commissioned Mexican stonemasons from Zacatecas to create this reredos for La Castrense military chapel in 1761.

The central figure depicts Saint James as Santiago Matamoros on horseback, reflecting Spanish military influence in colonial New Mexico religious art.

The reredos stands as the main feature within Cristo Rey Church, where visitors can examine the carved details during regular church hours.

This volcanic stone altar screen contains six main religious figures arranged in tiers, with traces of original paint still visible on its surface.
