Jesse Knight Building, Business and humanities building at Brigham Young University, Provo, US
The Jesse Knight Building is a business and humanities structure on the Brigham Young University campus with an L-shaped design. The building contains multiple half-floors and lecture halls arranged with amphitheater-style seating.
The building was constructed in 1960 as a Commercial College facility and expanded in 1966. It later became the headquarters for the College of Humanities and underwent seismic reinforcement improvements in 2007.
The building is named after Jesse Knight, a mining industrialist whose wealth enabled the university's early growth. His name serves as a daily reminder of the generosity that shaped the campus.
The building provides access to computer laboratories, writing centers, and administrative offices for students and staff. Visitors should know that the complex half-floor layout can make navigation confusing, so familiarizing yourself with the floor plan beforehand helps.
The building features an unconventional layout with multiple half-floors that create vertical spaces rarely seen in typical university structures. This design choice creates unusual sightlines and hidden nooks throughout the corridors.
