Spencer W. Kimball Tower, University building at Brigham Young University, US
Spencer W. Kimball Tower is a 12-story educational building on Brigham Young University's campus standing about 162 feet (49 meters) tall. The structure houses classrooms, administrative offices, and research facilities serving multiple academic departments.
Designed by Emil B. Fetzer, the tower opened in 1981 and was the tallest structure in Provo for many years afterward. Its completion represented a major moment in the physical development of both the university and the city.
The building functions as a hub for family and social science research on campus and regularly hosts cultural events and screenings. Visitors notice how the space brings together academic work and cultural activities in a single location.
The building is accessible to students and staff during academic hours, with classrooms and offices spread across all levels. Visitors should know that access is primarily reserved for university members, and exploring the campus during regular daytime hours works best.
The tower stands at a distinctive 45-degree angle to neighboring buildings, which sets it apart from the usual campus layout. This intentional design choice gives the grounds a unique architectural character.
