Clyde Engineering Building, Engineering education facility at Brigham Young University in Provo, United States.
The Clyde Engineering Building is an engineering education facility at Brigham Young University in Provo. It extends across five stories and houses laboratories, classrooms, and research spaces serving multiple engineering departments.
The building was completed in 1974 and named after Wilford W. Clyde, a construction business owner from Springville. Its construction was supported by contributions from around 18,000 donors.
The Fritz B. Burns Student Commons inside serves as a gathering space where engineering students connect and build professional relationships. Many visit this area as a place to collaborate and spend time together.
The building contains specialized facilities including a structures laboratory with steel beams, computer labs, and clean rooms for research work. Be aware that access to laboratory areas may be restricted.
Roughly 40 percent of the building's floor space is devoted to laboratory instruction and research, showing a strong focus on hands-on learning. This high proportion of lab space sets it apart as a distinctive feature of the facility.
