The building was completed in 1974 and named after Wilford W. Clyde, a construction business owner from Springville. Its construction was supported by contributions from around 18,000 donors.
The Fritz B. Burns Student Commons inside serves as a gathering space where engineering students connect and build professional relationships. Many visit this area as a place to collaborate and spend time together.
