Mining magnate Horace Tabor invested 40,000 dollars to construct this theater in 1879, making it the most expensive building in Colorado at that time.
The stage welcomed numerous performers including Oscar Wilde, John Philip Sousa, and Buffalo Bill, establishing its reputation between St Louis and San Francisco.
The Tabor Opera House offers guided tours and schedules performances from late May through September, with event information available on their official website.
The theater contains North America's largest collection of historic stage scenery, including hand-painted curtains and drops dating back to 1879.
