Crown Hill Park, County park in Jefferson County, Colorado
Crown Hill Park is a county park between Wheat Ridge and Lakewood spanning about 240 acres. The grounds include Crown Hill Lake, Kestrel Pond, and multiple trails with natural surfaces that wind through the landscape.
The land once belonged to pioneer Henry Lee, who developed irrigation and farming operations in the early 1900s. It was later converted to parkland as part of an effort to preserve undeveloped land in the county.
The establishment of Crown Hill Park in 1978 resulted from Jefferson County residents' initiative to create an Open Space Program for preserving undeveloped lands.
The park is open from sunrise to sunset daily and offers amenities like accessible picnic areas, restrooms, and drinking water stations. The trails vary in difficulty, so visitors of different fitness levels can find a suitable route to explore.
Crown Hill Lake is partly managed by an adjacent cemetery that holds water rights to the lake and uses the water for irrigation. This arrangement results in noticeable changes to the water level throughout the year that visitors will observe.
