Regency Student Housing, Student housing complex in Denver, Colorado.
Regency Student Housing is a residential building in Denver, Colorado, that serves students from three schools sharing the Auraria Campus: Community College of Denver, Metropolitan State University of Denver, and University of Colorado Denver. The rooms come furnished and the building offers on-site support for residents.
The building was constructed in 1968 as a convention hotel and operated as lodging for several decades. In 2004 it was redesigned to become student housing.
The residence fosters educational development through dedicated study areas and creates opportunities for social connections among students from different academic institutions.
The building sits on the Auraria Campus in central Denver and is easy to reach by public transit. Access is mainly reserved for residents, so visitors should not expect to enter the building freely.
During its years as a hotel in the early 1970s, Elvis Presley reportedly stayed in the penthouse suite on more than one occasion. Nothing visible inside the building marks this chapter today, but the story is part of what people remember about the place.
