Lucky Peak State Park, State park in Ada County, US
Lucky Peak State Park is a recreational area with three separate units, each offering different activities along a reservoir. Discovery Park provides picnic facilities, Sandy Point offers swimming access, and Spring Shores Marina serves boating enthusiasts.
The park was established in 1956 following the completion of Lucky Peak Dam as a joint effort with the United States Army Corps of Engineers. This agreement created the recreational area that exists today.
The park serves as a gathering place where visitors connect with nature and observe local wildlife in their habitat. People spend time here with family and friends, using the trails and picnic areas throughout the day.
The park is located approximately 10 miles (16 kilometers) east of Boise and is open from sunrise to sunset. Visitors should prepare for different conditions across the three areas and bring appropriate gear for their chosen activities.
The area contains a geological formation called the Lucky Peak Dam Zeolite Occurrence, which adds scientific value to the landscape. This mineral deposit is often overlooked by visitors but represents an interesting geological feature of the site.
