Lucky Peak State Park, State park in Ada County, US
Lucky Peak State Park covers 240 acres on and near Lucky Peak Lake, eight miles southeast of Boise in Ada County. It has three units: Discovery Park off State Highway 21, a roadside picnic and fishing spot on the Boise River; Sandy Point at the base of Lucky Peak Dam, with a sandy beach and calm water for wading and swimming; and Spring Shores, with boat ramps and a marina at the lake's northern end.
The park was established in 1956 following the completion of Lucky Peak Dam as a joint effort with the United States Army Corps of Engineers. This agreement created the recreational area that exists today.
The park's three units shape how people use it: Discovery Park on State Highway 21 draws riverside picnickers and anglers along the Boise River, Sandy Point's beach at the dam base is used for wading and swimming, and Spring Shores at the lake's north end serves boaters with ramps and a marina. The grounds are also reached from the Boise River Greenbelt.
The park is located approximately 10 miles (16 kilometers) east of Boise and is open from sunrise to sunset. Visitors should prepare for different conditions across the three areas and bring appropriate gear for their chosen activities.
