Washington State University (also known as WSU) is a research university in Pullman, Washington state. The campus covers around 250 hectares (roughly 600 acres) in the Palouse region and includes red brick buildings alongside contemporary laboratory structures for a range of academic disciplines.
The institution was founded in 1890 as Washington Agricultural College and School of Science to provide farming education and research. The current name Washington State University was given to the site in 1959.
The university maintains 300 student organizations and hosts 70 sports clubs, fostering engagement through academic societies and recreational activities.
The main campus in Pullman holds six libraries linked through an interlibrary loan system to a total of 36 university libraries. The site can be explored on foot or by bicycle, with most facilities designed for accessible entry.
