Reese Court, Multi-purpose athletic facility in Cheney, Washington, US
Reese Court is an indoor arena on the Eastern Washington University campus in Cheney, Washington, with a hardwood floor and seating for around 6,000 people. It sits southwest of Roos Field and is the largest event building on campus.
The arena opened on June 6, 1975, replacing an older fieldhouse that could no longer meet the university's growing needs. From that point, the campus had a space large enough to host major competitions and public gatherings under one roof.
The building hosts basketball and volleyball games, graduation ceremonies, concerts, and science competitions, making it a gathering point for the whole campus community. Events here draw both students and people from the surrounding area.
The building is easy to reach on foot from most parts of campus, and parking is available nearby for visitors arriving by car. Arriving a little early is a good idea on event days, as the area around the building fills up quickly.
The arena is named after William B. Reese, who coached several sports at the university from 1930 to 1964 and also served as a fitness officer during World War II. His career at the school spanned more than 3 decades, making him one of the longest-serving coaches in the university's history.
